Be A CFC Hero

The CFC Hero Program was implemented in 2002.

By definition, a hero is someone that undertakes a selfless act for the benefit of another.  The CFC Hero award was designed to acknowledge those that give that something extra, and truly make this a better world.

We invite all federal employees to submit nominations of your fellow peers.  These can be individuals that have been exemplary keyworkers, that have given generously of themselves through volunteer work and contributions to charitable organizations or charitable causes, or maybe even triumphed over their own adversities.  If you feel someone you know deserves to be nominated as a CFC Hero, please submit your nomination using the nomination form to the LFCC or Employee Campaign Coordinator listed for your location, or to the CFC office for locations not listed (jodi@metrodenvercfc.org)

National Hero Selection Criteria

The Office of Personnel Management initiated the national CFC Hero program in 2002 to recognize outstanding leadership and volunteer contribution to the Combined Federal Campaign.

Nominations are solicited from over 300 regions of the CFC in four categories: military uniformed, military civilian, postal service and federal civilian. A national committee comprised of Local Federal Coordinating Committee members, Principal Combined Fund Organizations and former recipients of the award determine the national heroes to be honored with the prestigious national awards in a ceremony at the White House based on innovation, campaign achievement, personal background or life experiences that influenced the nominee, and personal volunteerism outside the workplace.

The national nominations are rated individually by the committee members to determine the top contenders for the awards. The final selection of heroes is a collaborative committee decision based on comparison of the nomination packages and spirited discussion amongst the committee members. The committee recommends their award recipient selections to the Office of Personnel Management who approve the selections and announces the award winners.
